I was already registered with CJO. Where do you go to enter the code? Is it an account setting or some field on the BJPS page?

I don’t think this whole Tier I, Tier II thinking is particularly helpful. My most influential political science paper was published in the BJPS, and one reason we sent it there was because they had no problem with a long article that carefully considered alternative explanations. (We had 10 figures in the article, many with multiple graphs, and all were necessary to the story.)

I agree that the Tier I/Tier II thing makes no sense – but it is still socially important, especially for junior faculty seeking to get tenure. Journal ranking – in the absence of enough time to establish whether your work is widely cited and influential – serves as a very imperfect proxy for quality.

John – instructions for access are at http://sci.scientific-direct.net/c.asp?822653&f231d04e59b27de4&6 – but the deal isn’t as good, I don’t think.
