US Catches a Break

No, not the latest unemployment figures, but our draw for the opening round of the 2010 World Cup final: United States, England, Slovenia, and Algeria. According to Eric Wynalda, “This is the best draw we’ve ever had in any World Cup.” Only 188 days until the June 11th kickoff!

eric wynalda is a fool. even if it’s true, you don’t say it. is he familiar with sports motivation? i mean, you wouldn’t know it from his career …

England will win the group and hopefully the cup, but the US has a good chance of second. John Sides can vouch for my football bona fides.

possibly so, but in the soccer worldcup, i’d put england at the bottom of the top seeds. we can and should win the group.

Much of the US finish is going to depend on how Davies and Onyewu recover from their injuries — especially Davies. Algeria and Slovenia are solid but not overpowering
