In the “have they no sense of shame” category, Iranian Press TV is reporting that in response to the violence in China’s Xinjiang province:
In a telephone conversation with Secretary General of the 56-nation Organization of the Islamic Conference Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki voiced Iran’s support for “the rights of Chinese Muslims”. Mottaki is also expected to hold talks with his Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi over the issue.

Do the rights of Chinese muslims include the right to slaughter over 100 civilians of other ethnic groups in a killing spree, many of them having their throats cut?
China’s Xinjiang policy should eventually be thoroughly examined and debated, but (sorry for this analogy), would the mass media focus their blame exclusively on US policies in middle east right after the 911 attack?
And BTW, we all know Chinese muslims do not enjoy full religious freedom, but how many of us know that they are not subject to the one-child policy, young muslim Chinese can get into Chinese colleges with lower testing scores than Han Chinese, etc.? I’m not saying they shouldn’t enjoy these affirmative action policies. I’m just saying we need to know there are such policies when we talk about Muslim rights in Xinjiang.
