APSA Practicing Politics Working Group at 2011 Convention

- August 19, 2011

APSA’s “Practicing Politics Working Group”:http://www.apsanet.org/content_72407.cfm will be co-sponsoring panels at the 2011 Convention on: Modern Diplomacy (with Foreign Policy); The Federal Budget (with Public Administration); Technology and Development (with Information Technology and Politics); and Bilateral Trade (with International Political Economy). More details about the group and its aims can be found in a recent article in “The Forum”:http://www.bepress.com/forum/vol9/iss2/art10/. For those of you not familiar with the group, here’s a brief excerpt from “the article”:http://www.bepress.com/forum/vol9/iss2/art10/:

Who we are: Practicing Politics started three years ago as an effort to connect APSA members who are or have been in government, policy centers, and other non-academic organizations; in other words, APSA members in the trenches of making politics work and in the position to practically test whether the theories make sense or not. Practicing Politics is a practitioner’s effort to bridge the gap between research and the political arena. We are not creating a new journal. We are not organizing conferences. However, we are happy to attend research conferences and write for journals with our perspective.
