* Mark McKinnon correctly downplays the effect of presidential candidates’ spouses on election outcomes.  I’d go even further, however, and argue against this: “Ann Romney’s awareness and favorable ratings likely went through the roof.”  I think McKinnon overestimates how much attention people paid to campaign tempests like this one.
