What Politico Fears

What Politico—and other campaign-obsessed outlets—fear are the narratives that expose much of their work as simple distractions. What they fear, I think, is political science.

That is Ezra Klein. His entire post is worth reading. He saved me from writing nearly the same thing.

Agreed: it’s a really good post. His take on Jake Weisberg’s (pretty good) column about Obama was excellent, also. And he and Jon Cohn have been just terrific blogging and reporting on health care reform.

Good post — we should be as quick to promote good reporters as we are to bash the bad ones.

For those more interested in Things Reporters Should Know: I wound up writing a series on each of Ezra’s seven points, and ended up wondering what other items should be on his list: Things the politicals scientists know that show that much of Politico’s reporting is sideshow, not substance.
